What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

Because of the extreme height of the tree and being situated on a bank at the rear of my garden I am requesting 50% trimming of height after visit from a tree surgeon. It is an Oak tree with 3 large branches off the trunk. The area on the bank has very strong winds and very concerned as it has grown a lot since the 5 years I have been here and seems much higher than neighbouring trees. If it fell would land on my conservatory and probably roof of the house. I am happy for you to come and view it. reduction of 3 branches from main crown to 50% above ground level, to provide sufficient clearance to property.

T1 - Ash Tree - Sectionally dismantle, fell & remove to ground level. Remove all cut material from site & return to a Teign Trees depot for recycling, leaving the area safe, clean & tidy. Reason for proposed tree removal; Hymenoscyphus fraxineus Ash Dieback has been identified. The tree has been classed as in Class 2 stage of dieback with 75%-51% of the crown remaining (The Tree Council - ADB A Guide For Tree Owners). If left the trees health will only deteriorate making removal dangerous.
