Prune off small fibrous roots with sharp clean tool (such as secateurs) to minimise the size of the wound and reduce the possibility of decay pathogens gaining access to the roots. The branches have reached the telephone wires, which may lead to them being compromised, should the tree be allowed to continue to grow.
