T1 - Maple - Re-Pollard to previous points - Lapsed pollard T2 - Cotonisata - Reduce to approx. 3m in height, and side prune for 1.5m T3 - Cherry - Thin trees crown by approximately 10% of the leafbearing twig structure to tidy and manage the trees visual amenity and alleviate indirect light and shade issues into the garden area directly beneath the tree. All thinning works will be undertaken as per BS3998: current edition. Works to be undertaken as part of a maintenance program to maintain the trees within the property grounds.

Mount stuart Hospital, Boundary Between Hospital Car Parking Area & St Vincent's Road; T1,T2,T3,T4 -X4 Mature Leylandii Cypress - Dismantle, fell & remove to ground level. Grind out stumps to below ground level to enable reinstatement & planting of a Griselinia hedge with approximately x4 heavy standard ornamental cherry trees in place of the current cypress trees. Remove all cut material from site & return to a Teign Trees depot for recycling, leaving the area safe, clean & tidy. Reasons for the proposed works; The trees are not a suitable or practical specie for their location. The trees are now, due to the main stem girth size's (including lower primary branches) encroaching onto the hospital car parking area causing regular damage to cars parking in the allotted spaces. Leylandii Cypress are fast growing & large trees therefore if not removed will compound this problem further in the near future. Remedial pruning will not solve or help this problem, leaving removal the only viable option. The car parking area at the hospital is already very congested due to limited spaces. The trees also cause excessive shading to the SW side of the hospital. Ramsey Health Care Ltd are very keen to replant a Griselinia Hedge along the boundary with x4 heavy standard ornamental cherry trees in place of the current cypress trees. between the hospital car park & St Vincent's Rd. The hedge will be encouraged & nurtured to grow to approximately x6 feet in height screening the hospital parking area.

Conifers on border (T1) of 17 and 19 Parkhurst Road; fell due to blocking light, roots spreading towards house, blowing towards house in winds and rotting at the base. Replant with more appropriate trees, to be advised by arborist or planning. The trees at the rear of the garden (leylandii T2) would be reduced to about 23/24 feet high. The tree (conifer T3) will be about 35 feet high. Leylandii (T2J on land at bottom of 17 Parkhurst Road. Top due to excessive height and shading. Remove 6ft and tidy broken branches. Conifer (T3) reshape and top.

By cutting away from gutters and roof - it should reduce future damage to the property. All work to be carried out by qualified and insured arborists. We also want to remove the dead foliage on the slope to the side of the property, and cut back growth to a manageable condition for future maintenance. I have not been able to find specific tree preservation numbers for the trees 1-6 but I understand we are located in a conservation area and have therefor submitted this application.

Oak T 1 - Reduce lateral crown spread over the roof by up to 1. 1.5m, targeting only branches encroaching towards the property. Works to follow BS 3998: 2010 principles: retain natural form, prune back to suitable secondary growth, avoid creating large wounds, and maintain a balanced crown shape. The crown is in direct contact with the roofline, causing abrasion, debris accumulation, and increased maintenance needs. A modest reduction restores safe clearance while retaining the tree's amenity value. Oak T 2 and T 3 - Pollard the tree at an appropriate height to manage structural decline associated with Ganoderma. Retain a stable framework of sound scaffold branches; cuts to be made at suitable points to allow future cyclical management. All works to follow BS 3998: 2010 and be proportionate to the tree's condition and location. The tree shows signs consistent with Ganoderma decay, reducing structural reliability. Pollarding is a recognised BS 3998 management option for declining trees where retention is desirable but full crown load is no longer appropriate. This approach prolongs safe retention, reduces risk, and avoids premature removal. Cedar T 4 - Remove deadwood =40mm diameter and any unstable smaller deadwood throughout the crown. Deadwood is present in the crown, posing a risk to the garden and adjacent access areas. Beech G 1 - Lift branches over the road to a minimum height of 5.2m (standard UK highway clearance for vehicle routes). Lift branches over the pavement to a minimum height of 2.1m (standard pedestrian clearance). Where applicable, lift branches over cycleways to 2.5?m. Remove or shorten only those branches that obstruct safe passage or visibility, in accordance with Highways Act 1980 s 154. Pruning to follow BS 3998: 2010 prune to suitable secondary growth points, avoid excessive thinning, and retain group structure.
