T1 - Mature Oak Tree - Open Access Grass Verge: Fell as close as possible to ground level and grind out remaining stump (to a depth of 300mm) As you can see from photos it appears to have had a last flush of growth before dying. The surrounding yew hedge and tree have also died. The oak might have died separately from possibly acute oak decline as it's showing some bleeding and bore holes in the stem and a nearby oak also has similar conditions.

The tree at the back of the garden has become huge over the last year. Tenants have just reported a huge branch dropped off the tree narrowly avoiding her 5 year old son and smashing the shed. This raises serious H&S concerns about the tree, so we need to urgently have works conducted. Beech Trees X 2 - trees are in danger to the residents and we wish the application to consider removing them in lieu of planting younger trees.

Dormers The Green Croxley Green Rickmansworth Hertfordshire WD3 3HX

I wish for work to be done on two trees in my garden: (1) Cut down and remove Tree 1, a large overgrown Leylandii (including the stump). In its place I plan to plant a mulberry tree and other bushes and shrubs that are attractive to birds and pollinators. (2) Reduce the height of Tree 2, a maple tree, by around 3 metres. This tree had its crown reduced by about 1.5-2 metres at the end of 2023 (less than 2 years ago) but it quickly regained the lost height and has now become too tall and thin. Note that when I moved to Dormers cottage around 5 years ago, the garden was very overgrown with very tall connifers. I have applied for several of these to be felled or have their height reduced over the years (several previous appliocations) and I believe this has greatly improved the garden. I think Tree 1 in this application will be the last tree that needs to be removed. Hereafter, it should be routine maintenance only. Please note that as promised in previous applications, I have replaced the trees I removed with a variety of fruit trees and bushes (damsone, crab apple, red currant, blackcurrant, raspberry, gooseberry, cherry) as well as other shrubs (hydrangea, jasmine, blackthorn, philadelphus etc). With better light in the garden, I have also dug a large pond (approx 4 x 2.5 m), intended to encourage wildlife (so, no fish). My intention is to keep adding to the garden shrubs and plants (preferably native UK species) selecting where I can those most attractive to birds and pollinators. I have had a provisional (verbal) quote from a tree surgeon to do this new work

The Masters House Old Common Road Chorleywood Rickmansworth Hertfordshire WD3 5LW

The trees are marked T1 to T6 on the sketch plan ("the Plan") with this Application, and shown on the photographs herewith. The intended works and the reasons for them are described below for each tree. There is no Tree Preservation Order on any of them, and it is thought that no Forestry Commission Felling Licence is needed ("less than 5 cu.m. of timber to be felled in a single quarter"). Please accept this application as notification under TCP Act 1990 s 211 of intended work to trees in Chorleywood Common Conservation Area. T1: Ash tree, T1 on the Plan; Photos T1A to T1E. Proposed action: fell / dismantle to ground level. Reasons: the tree is not a very good specimen of its kind. The crown is irregular and not aesthetically attractive. - T1A. The tree appears to have been pollarded many years ago, and later left to its own devices, which has led to the growth of heavy branches in the lower and middle sections of the crown, and a risk of property damage and / or personal injury if such a branch drops. The canopy is thin, and most of it very thin: T1A, D and E. T1 appears to be much the same age as T2, which has been standing dead for eighteen months or more; the inference is that T1 may be nearing the end of its natural life. It has suffered from significant fungal attack: T1B, where the remains of some bracket-fungus is just visible - at their largest, the fruiting-bodies were up to three or four feet across. Over time, the roots of T1 have significantly lifted the surface of the driveways on either side of the base of the tree: T1B, Crindau, and T1C, The Masters House. We submit that T1 in its present state does not significantly contribute to the amneity of the surrounding area and carries a risk of damaging people and property, and should be felled. If it became practicable to instal solar panels on the roof of The Masters House, any canopy of T1 would intercept an appreciable part of the solar energy to what would otherwise be a suitable place for...
