Planning application

Templewood 8 Temple Gardens Moor Park Rickmansworth Hertfordshire WD3 1QJ

Refused Three Rivers 24/1583/TPO Works to trees covered by a Tree Pres O

Works: Trees

Refused. Only the applicant can appeal, within the statutory time limit, and a revised scheme can be submitted instead.

Proposal

T4 - Beech x 1 - reduce by 4m on height Reasons: : The beech tree has been historically reduced in height and spread and consequently is now structurally challenged in discrete areas such that some decay is present and incidences of branch break have occurred. G4 - Sycamore x 2 - fell to ground level Reasons:These are self-seeded volunteers that have arisen within the boundary hedge. Doctor Pendlebury reports that in 2004 alone 6-8 significantly-sized branches have fallen from the trees into his garden, more than one have apparently struck the building. Naturally, Doctor Pendlebury is concerned about the safety implications of these occurrences and feels that the trees should be removed to reduce his liabilities under the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 (as amended 1984) and his further responsibilities under the Common Law Duty of Care.

TG2 Sycamore X2 group - left side of house Sectional dismantle using rigging equipment the large TG2 Sycamore X2 group located at the left side of house. Leave stump low. Remove resulting debris. REASONS: *The trees are so large now that they are destroying the original 1930s hedge and large branches frequently fall, probably due to squirrel damage, causing damage to the outhouse and washing line. *The trees are less than 5 meters from the house and we have already had to underpin the part nearest to the trees. *The lack of any 'amenity value' is also highlighted by the fact that they are not only on private property but not visible to the general public as Temple Gardens is a private road owned by the house-owners with no rights of way. The only person who can see the trees is our neighbour and he wants them cut down as well
