Left Of The Entrance To Harrocks Wood Rousebarn Lane Croxley Green Hertfordshire
Proposal
There are two mature ash trees by the entrance of the woodland which need felling in order for us to widen the entrance to Harrocks Wood for tree safety works in the autumn. We intend to fell trees infected with ash dieback (ADB) in the woodland this autumn. This is needed to improve visitor safety. In order for the felling works to take place, we need to improve the access to Harrocks Wood by widening the entrance so timber wagons can manoeuvre in and out from Rousebarn Lane. T1 Ash fell. Suffering Ash die back and to widen entrance to allow vehicular movements for timber extraction later on in year. Next to road. T2 Ash fell. Suffering Ash die back and to widen entrance to allow vehicular movements for timber extraction later on in year. Next to road. T3 Ash fell. Suffering Ash die back and to widen entrance to allow vehicular movements for timber extraction later on in year. Next to road. T4 Hazel fell. Small multi-stemmed. Overhanging leaning over entrance. To widen entrance to allow vehicular movements for timber extraction later on in year. We are willing to plant a native broadleaved tree in its place, in keeping with the species found in the woodland.

What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
