What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About this record

Reading the register

This page mirrors an entry on the statutory planning register that Surrey Heath is required to keep. The published feed for this record does not state which type of application it is, which is common for older entries and for some council systems; the register entry on the council portal will say, alongside the case officer and any consultation dates.

Every planning application follows the same broad path: submission, validation, publicity, then a decision by officers or committee. Our guide to planning application types explains the common types and what each can approve.

This application is with the intention of completing works to 3 trees along the rear boundary of 29 Chatsworth, T1 T2 & T3 as shown on Sketch Plan. T1 - English Oak. At around 18m high with a canopy projecting over the garden by around 5m, this tree was previously trimmed in line with TPO works guidelines around 5-7 years ago, with the fresh growth being around 2m. The intention is to complete cuts back to previous cut points and to remove the minor girth deadwood from the canopy. The previous works were only over the garden of 29 Chatsworth and the intention is to replicate these works. T2 - Sweet Chestnut. At around 16m high with a canopy projecting around 4m over the garden, this tree has not been previously maintained and the canopy is significantly heavier in a southerly direction over the garden with regular deadwood dropping and overextended branches. The Intention is to remove deadwood from the canopy, reduce excessively long limbs and to reduce the canopy in line to avoid possible tear outs and rebalance the tree. T3 - Sweet Chestnut. At around 12m high with a canopy projecting over the garden by around 4m, this tree does not have a canopy as full as T1 though 2 main limbs have become overextended and require reducing in line with the remaining canopy and size of the tree to avoid possibly tearing out into the garden. Deadwood throughout the canopy will also be removed and other overextended branches reduced if/as necessary. (Works subject to TPO 4/74).
