Proposal
I moved into 51 Beech Road late last year. The tree in my front garden is growing in between the phone lines and the roots are lifting the flag stones on the driveway making it dangerous to walk on. They are causing a trip hazard if me or my partner take out the recycling or want to access the car. Also, the branches are touching the house. I can see where the tree has been previously cut back to and would like to do that again. I have spoken with the neighbours who have informed me it hasn't been touched for a few years so really needs cutting back. I don't know what sort of tree it is. It's the only one in the garden. HAR/CA36.

The process from here
This application is with Stockport for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.
The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T1 - Mature ash tree - Removal by sectional dismantling. The stem will be left where it splits into multiple stems and treated with eco plugs to leave a monolith to provide a habitat for mammals, small birds, invertebrates and food for detritivores. The top of the stem will be finished with coronet cuts to encourage decay. The tree is located at the very rear of the garden of 7 Heath Road and is little amenity value due to its position. The tree hangs over the garden of 20 Beech Road, and causes excessive leaf litter, shade, and pigeon poo for the owners of 20 Beech Road. The 2 parties have agreed that it can be removed pending permission. HAR/CA36, TPO 87N.

Pine - removal - tree species is very big for narrow back garden location. Difficult species to crown reduce to control size / maintenance. Concidering the garden has an other established tree and smaller stock we felt the removal was justified if tree was replaced with something smaller. HAR/CA36.
