Proposal

T1 - Horse chestnut - Ruduce southern laterals- 18m in height. No reduction to height. Reduce laterals by 2m from 10m to 8m on the southern side only, where they extend over the neighbouring property at 11 Burbage Road. A mature horse chestnut standing in the rear garden of 9 Burbage Road, close to the southern boundary. Its southern laterals extend across the boundary and over the garden of No 11. The proposed works shorten these laterals back to suitable growth points to reduce the overhang and the end-weight carried on the extended limbs, while the height and the remainder of the crown are left unaltered.

Works to a Tree with a TPO: T1 (Horse Chestnut) - Remove T2 & T3 (Horse Chestnut) - Repollard and repeat at 2-year intervals for a period of 10 years. Reasons: a. The property has been the subject of movement which engineers consider to be attributable to the role of vegetation on an underlying clay soil. b. Site investigations confirm the clay soil and levels of desiccation which support the view trees are of influence. c. The onset timing of damage is wholly consistent with the potential that it is caused by tree(s). d. Level monitoring is supportive of the view vegetation is causal. e. The tree identified for removal is the largest/ closest vegetation to the affected part of the building. It is hoped that its removal will mitigate the influence and facilitate the retention of other surveyed trees. f. Pruning to T2 & T3 seeks to establish a managed canopy framework allow future pruning works which will seek to retain the trees in a managed form.
