Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
T1 Ash - Selectively reduce the overextended subdominant limb displaying a wound and suspected Inonotus fruiting body by up to 4.5 metres to reduce end weight and loading on the compromised limb, thereby reducing the likelihood of failure. G2 Elm & Mulbery - Fell both trees to ground level, as both are in a terminal state of decline and are no longer considered suitable for continued retention. T3 Sycamore - Reduce the lowest, most overextended limb by up to 2.5 metres, pruning back into the natural crown line. The objective of these works is to reduce the lever-arm effect and associated loading on the stem, while helping to improve the overall balance of the tree in relation to its existing lean. G6 Heavily Ivy clad trees x2 - Fell both trees to ground level, as both are in a terminal state of decline and are no longer considered suitable for continued retention. T7 Poplar - Fell the tree to ground level, as the tree is windblown and currently suspended within an adjacent tree. T8 Goat Willow - Fell the tree to ground level, as the tree is windblown and currently suspended within an adjacent tree. T9 Silver birch - Fell the tree to ground level, as the tree has declined and is now standing dead. T11 Ash - Remove the low, partially failed limb back to the main stem. G12 - Holly x3 and Dead Birch - Fell both trees to ground level, as all are in a terminal state of decline and are no longer considered suitable for continued retention. T13 Elm - Fell both trees to ground level, as tree is in a terminal state of decline and is no longer considered suitable for continued retention. T15 Scots Pine - Fell both trees to ground level, as tree is in a terminal state of decline and is no longer considered suitable for continued retention. G16 Larch x2 - Taller of the Two Trees – Fell – Fell the tree to ground level, due to extensive suspected hollowing at the base, indicated by sounding with a mallet during inspection. Smaller Tree – Deadwood Removal – Remove deadwood oversailing the field entrances to maintain suitable clearance and reduce the likelihood of branch failure. T17 Ash - Fell to ground level, due to extensive suspected hollowing at the base, indicated by sounding with a mallet and prob during inspection. T18 Ash - Height Reduction / Retrenchment – Reduce the height of the tree to just above the point of the previously failed limb, at approximately 8 metres above ground level. The objective of these works is to retrench the tree into a shorter, more compact form, reducing overall loading and making it more suitable for future retention.

T1 - Lime T1 - Lime - to reduce to a high pollard approx 15m with final cut just above the main fork. Remaining side growth reduce by approx 50% to become established as pollard points. Reason for work: The tree has outgrown its situation very close to add overhanging the gatehouse and continually sheds crown sections as well as causing convern to the tennants during periods of severe weather. T1 - Lime tree T1 - Lime tree - to reduce the stem on the south side (tallest stem) by approximately 4m. To reduce the remainder of the height by approximately 3m to balance the height of the tree. To evenly reduce lateral spread around the perimeter of the canopy by approximately 2m. To thin the crown by a maximum of 10% retaining an even density of foliage throughout a well-spaced and balanced branch structure. Reason for recommended works: health and safety. Remarks:

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
