G3 Holly x2 - Re-Pollard – Remove all secondary growth back to the previously established pollard points on the main scaffold limbs. T4 London Plane - Pollard – Pollard the tree at a height of approximately 8 metres above ground level, making suitable finishing cuts to the primary and secondary scaffold limbs to establish a framework from which the tree can be managed as a pollard over the long term. Additionally, remove the two lowest secondary scaffold limbs back to the main stem to provide suitable clearance above the Yew archway. G5 Holly x2 - Fell to ground level in a safe and controlled manner. T7 English oak - Fell to ground level in a safe and controlled manner. Reasons for Works: T1 & G2 – The proposed works are in line with the previous management of these trees. The secondary regrowth has now established to a point where the likelihood of branch failure is increasing. The works are therefore recommended to maintain the trees within their established management cycle and reduce the likelihood of failure. G3 & G5 – These trees are in a state of decline and are heavily clad in Ivy, limiting their suitability for continued long-term retention. Removal is therefore recommended. T4 – This tree is situated centrally within a green archway formed by Yew trees on either side. The long-term management intention has been to allow the tree to establish before introducing it into a pollarding cycle. The proposed works will establish a suitable pollard framework, allowing the tree to be managed in this form over the long term while complementing its setting within the archway. T7 – The tree is situated on the roadside boundary and oversails both the public footway and carriageway. The tree is in a terminal state of decline, increasing the likelihood of branch or structural failure. Given its condition and proximity to frequently used targets, removal is recommended to manage the associated risk.

Reason for Works – The trees were identified during a recent TRM survey and are tagged with the corresponding numbers provided. All trees are in a terminal state of decline and, due to their locations within striking distance of potential targets, are no longer considered suitable for retention.

T1 Ash - Reduce the height and spread of the southern and eastern crown by up to 1.25 metres, pruning back to approximately the previous reduction points. The crown is currently squat in form, with the majority of growth extending laterally to the northwest and northeast; selectively reduce these areas by up to 2 metres to rebalance the crown and create a more uniform shape. Ensure finishing cuts do not exceed 80mm in diameter. Additionally, remove deadwood throughout the crown and crown lift over the lawn area to achieve approximately 3 metres clearance above ground level. The purpose of these works is to continue the ongoing crown management and create a smaller, less sporadic and better-balanced crown form suited to the current domestic setting.

T1 Hazel - Selectively re-coppice the larger diameter stems back to the coppice stool. Re-pollard the remaining smaller diameter stems back to the previous pollard points to retain the existing management regime. T2 Walnut - Reduce the lateral spread encroaching towards both neighbouring gardens by up to 1.5m, pruning back to suitable growth points to reduce end weight and improve crown balance. The purpose of these works is to contain the crown within the current setting, which leans towards the neighbouring properties from ground level and is supported by a tight primary union at approximately 1.25m above ground level. Final pruning cuts shall not exceed 60mm in diameter. T3 Hazel - Fell the three ivy-clad stems to ground level. Additionally, coppice the smaller stems located in front of the larger stems to ground level. T4 Fastigiate Apple - Reduce the height of the crown by approximately 1.0–1.25m to a finished height between the window sill and the top of the upper window. Additionally, selectively reduce extended lateral branches back to suitable inward-facing growth points and thin dense areas of the inner crown to improve crown structure. The purpose of these works is to maintain an appropriate size and form within the current domestic setting.

T2 Silver Birch - Reduce the height and spread of the tree by up to 1.5 metre, approximately back to the previous pruning points. Reasons for works - T1 is a mature tree with extensive basal hollowing and evidence of a previous primary limb failure, resulting in an unbalanced crown and associated decay within the main stem. The proposed reduction is intended to alleviate end-weight, reduce loading on the remaining structure, and aid in the long-term retention of the tree. T2 forms part of a routine maintenance programme and is proposed in accordance with the previous management regime to maintain the tree at an appropriate size and condition.

G1 Sycamore x3 - Pollard tree at 5 metres from ground level. Reasons for Works: The trees are located within the pub's bin store area in close proximity to surrounding structures. During inspection, it was noted that soil has been built up around the base of the stems above the natural root flare, which may be concealing basal decay. In addition, both trees are exhibiting signs of physiological stress, including crown decline and secondary branch dieback. Given their location adjacent to areas of public access and nearby structures, the trees present an elevated risk to people and property. Pollarding is therefore recommended to achieve a significant reduction in crown weight, allowing the trees to be retained while reducing the level of risk to an acceptable level.
