Planning application

The Henley College, Deanfield Avenue, Henley-on-thames, RG9 1UH

Decided South Oxfordshire P26/S1082/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T10 Horse Chestnut in front of D2. This needs a prune to reduce the overextended sections to the West to bring limb broadly back into line with main canopy and mitigate against limb failure. Reduce section by 2-2.25m leaving a balanced and flowing crown outline. There has been movement in the wall which is directly in front of the tree. T11 Magnolia in front of the finance office. Reduce tree back to previous pruning points to keep the tree in scale with its surroundings. Branches are touching buildings and wires. Retain as much internal growth as practicable as well as the smaller regeneration growth at the historic cut points to maximise foliar cover. Works would reduce the tree by approximately 2m from height and branch tips.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
