Proposal
There is a row of mature Yew trees on the western border of the property together with a mature Yew tree on the eastern border with the site owned by Chris Baylis for which he has recently received planning consent for the construction of a dwelling. The works are periodic pruning of up to 1.0m back to the the level of the last pruning which is believed to have been in 2020/21. The works will also involve the removal of ivy and vines which have attached themselves to the Yew trees. The works are likely to be carried out in conjunction with works to Yew trees in the grounds of Castle Lane House for which a separate application has been submitted my Andrew Harper, the owner of that property.

T1 - Cherry Following my meeting with Mr Stone at The Boathouse Pub regarding the unstable section of wall adjacent a mature Cherry tree, I now report my findings and recommendations: The cherry trees root system appears to be responsible for the "bowing out" section of brick retaining wall. The weight of the tree combined with its incremental root growth has resulted in the soil being moved and pushing against the retaining wall, causing the wall to bow out and hence the wall is considered unstable. The Cherry tree is considered over mature and in decline, and given its poor structural and physiological condition, combined with its low useful life expectancy, the tree is regarded as not worthy of retention. This combined with the damage that the tree is causing the adjacent retaining wall means that is removal is required and justified. On closer inspection of the tree it was found that the main stem is severely decay damaged and therefore the wood has been structurally weakened, and the canopy is showing signs of decline as a rsult of the death of the cambium layer. As the tree is located adjacent to a busy pub garden and overhaning seating areas it is our advice that the tree is removed for health and safety reasons. To grind out the main stump to 200mm below ground level and back fill the void. Remarks:
