Proposal

09S156(G1) Weeping Willow Tree We wish to apply to fell the Willow because of concerns regarding the safety of leaf litter, bird mess, trip hazards and maintaining the tree in a safe condition. There is a fracture in the main stem and a Tree Officer in his Pre-application Management Advice for Works to Protected Trees, noted that "the tree was in moderate structural condition and had several defects which limit its life expectancy and require continuous inspection and pruning to ensure the tree remains in a safe condition within the setting of a children's play area". The TPO was placed on the tree before the site was fenced in and is now separated from the other 15 Pine trees in the same TPO. We would follow all of the Tree Officers advice and would remove the stump and prepare the ground with topsoil to improve soil conditions and forking to relieve compaction. We would like to plant a replacement Tilia Mongolica (Mongolian Lime) of a Standard size 8-10cmg as close as reasonably practicable to the tree removed. We would stake and guard the tree with a small picket fence within 1m of the stem with a 75mm layer of mulch applied. We would arrange for the tree removal and replacement planting to be carried out in a single operation by a contractor sourced from the Arboricultural Association website.
