The Silver Birch tree in our garden has grown considerably during the last 10 years. It is now very large causing a great deal of shade to our garden. The tree is very close to the boundary with Sonning Common primary school and that with our neighbours at 8 Red House Drive. As can be seen from the enclosed photographs, the birch tree now towers over the school buildings. During strong winds, which are becoming more frequent, a number of small branches are blown from the tree, our concern is that larger branches may cause damage to school buildings or to our own house. We would like to employ a qualified person to reduce the tree's top growth back to where it was when the TPO was put on and to trim the lower branches. (approximately 9m to be taken off of the height and rounding off the sides to create a rounded shape). We will contact Mr Hirst the headmaster of SC primary school to discuss a suitable date for the work to be done.

T1 - Lime tree lateral growth as pictured; As discussed with the applicant, he is keen to encourage ore light into the property and help reduce leaf mess in the autumn, but more importantly to reduce the chances of the limbs touching the house or snapping off and falling into child's play ground. My suggestion to meet their requirements and to also maintain the trees health, shape and balance. Prune back the longest lateral growth by 2.5m max. Any other branches within this measurement will be pruned back to a growth point, leaving a broad natural finish to the side of the tree. Prune off/remove dead wood leaving the tree safe and tidy. All tree work will be carried out to the highest standard. All limbs will be pruned back to a growth point where possible whilst aiming to leave a natural finish.
