Proposal
T1 - Copper Beech with lesion at face height, facing in to car park, brace 2 main stems as there is an included union, reduce crown by 20% foliar to relieve stress on included union, to reduce co-dominant stem by 1.5-2m equating to canopy spread of 15m. Raise canopy over adjacent house to give 2.5-3m clearance. T2 - Lombardy Poplar t0 remove ivy, reduce by approximately a third, remove any major deadwood over 50mm in diameter and inspect base. T3 - Red Oak with excessive phototropic lean adjacen to Poplar to reduce top by 2m. T4 - Sycamore to clear ivy to allow inspection of base, crown break and cavities. Inspect bracing as it seems quite tight. T5 - Horse Chestnut following the loss of a significant limb we recommend to reduce the over extended sections by 1.5-2m to bring in line with the rest of the crown, lift to 4m and inspect cavities. T14 - London Plane x 2 to remove major deadwood, raise canopy over neighbours garages to give a 3m clearance. T15 - Maple recent poor tree pruning, remove major deadwood, raise canopy this year and in three years time reduce back over extended limb by 2m when canopy on Bowling side has regenerated. G16 - Limes x 8 - 20-25% foliar reduction equating to 1.5-2m from branch tips, clear epicormic growth, remove major dedawood, inspect base.

T1 - Beech - The tree has been pruned over a number of years, primarily to remove lower limbs. Simon Holmes carried out a resistograph survery of the stem a year ago and recommended a light reduction. We have subsequently carried out a further light reduction. The tree is a significant one and is in a significant position, explaining why is is the subjecty of a tree preservation order by South Oxfordshire DC. The potential targets are the adjacent houses and occupants, the users of two footpaths, the people and their cars in the parking spaces, and other road users. The PICUS scans show the extent of the cavities and how they are beginning to coalesce. There is a third cavity the same size as the two shown between the upper and lower cavities, which was not scanned because of the size of the trunk at this point. The first scan is 1-1.2m above the main fork. The next two are alos above and the last two bellow the fork It is clear that the main stem of the tree is compromised and that the fungal activity is a long term contributor to the decay. As a responsilbe owner, Mr Bransdon is aware he has a duty of care to the occupants of the house and his neighbours and users of the path and roads and given the fact the tree is diseased and only likely to get worse, he doesn't want to risk damage or injury to himself or others. Mr Bransdon is proposing that a new tree of the same species and of some considrable size, circa 30-40cm girth, be planted in the front garden as a replacement and that the exisitng tree is removed given potential for failure.
