Planning application

Chilworth House School, Thame Road, Wheatley, Oxon

Granted South Oxfordshire P16/S4931/TPO Works to TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T8720 - Apple, Malus - showing decay and fungus within the cavities of the stem/base of the tree. The tree exhibits dead wood within the branches. We have had an incident of dead wood falling from the tree with a width of approximate diameter of 200cm. This has become a health and safety issue and we would like permission to fell the tree to reduce risk to children playing outside. Vermin, wasps & flies attracted to falling food, this is also causing a problem. A1 All trees of whatever species Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level. Reason: R1 Sound arboricultural management Reason: R2 To ensure future compatibility with site, surroundings and usage Reason: R3 Limited safe useful life expectancy

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
