Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
T1 - Sycamore T1 - Sycamore - fell due to its excessive height and spread of its branches and roots. The upper branches cover and surround an electrical power line. The roots have caused considerable damage to the lawn, garden path and gate. The tree has previously been reduced in height but this seems to have encouraged its current growth. It is too large for its current position. There are several other trees along the boundary. Remarks:

T1 - Beech T2 - Beech T3 - Beech T4 - Beech T5 - Beech T6 - Beech T7 - Norway Maple This will include felling 2 x Beech trees and management would fit well as one is a mature example with potential defective unions and the second is heavily suppressed with limited long term value. The remaining 4 x are good specimens that would then benefit from pruning works to tidy the inner crown and reduce sail area by up to 2.0m to cope with changes in wind dynamics from the removal of the 2x Beech. The Norway Maple has become very drawn and serves only minor value with the garden. Remove 2 x Beech trees (T2 & T4) felling through rope and harness in sections using aerial rigging, finally felling as close to ground level as possible. Reduce remaining 4 x Beech (T1, T3, T5 and T6) by 2.0m in height and balance sides. Remove 1 x Norway Maple (T7) felling through rope and harness in sections using aerial rigging, finally felling as close to ground level as possible. Remarks:

T1 - White Beam T2 & T3 - Silver Birch T4, T5 & T7 - Silver Birch T6 - Ash T1 - White Beam - light crown thinning (5%) crown lifting to 5ft above ground level. T2 & T3 - Silver Birch - crown thinning, crown reduction (25%) crown lifting to 6ft above ground level. T4, T5 & T7 - Silver Birch - crown thinning, crown reduction (25%) crown lifting to 6ft above ground level. Note T7 will require more thinning/reduction due to it impinging on the operation of the street light no.1. T6 - Ash - crown reduction of some 3 metres away from the adjacent property (10 Brook Street) as the branches are in contact with the roof/guttering at BT services to this property. Crown lifting to 6ft above ground level. Remarks:

Tree 1 London plane - Requires crown lift of the small diameter branches above the front car park and near to the main entrance to the theatre. Ideally 5 metre clearance is required for delivery vehicles and coaches. Small diameter branches that are close to the building need pruning to give 2 metre clearance. Remove deadwood from higher up and inspect the tree for signs of hollowing or disease.

(T2) Ash - Requires crown lift of the small diameter branches above car park to provide 5 metre clearance for delivery and waste collection vehicles. Small diameter branches close to the building need pruning to give a 2 metre clearance to help prevent damage to the sloped roof. Remove deadwood. (T3) Horse chestnut - Requires crown lift of the small diameter branches above car park area to give a 4 metre clearance for cars and vans. Remove deadwood. (T4) Ash - Originally listed as a Willow tree by mistake. Requires pollarding at suitable point at approximately 3 metres above ground level. The tree has good regrowth lower down and is ideal for this procedure.

G1 Various species. Down track between properties. - Prune back from gutters. Prune branches to provide a clearance of approximately 0.5-1.0m. This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree. G2 Various species. Front drive to house. - Prune branches to provide a clearance of approximately 5.0m over the driveway. This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree. T1 Maple. Centre front lawn - Prune branches to provide a clearance of approximately 2.5m over the lawn area. This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree. G3 Various species. RHS path into the rear garden - Prune & trim to provide a clearance of approximately 1.0m from the roof line and gutters. This action will remove up to 1.5m of lower lateral branch growth. - Prune back to path edging where possible, by removal of up to 0.5m where via a combination of hedge cutting and light pruning. - Prune Lime trees to approximately 5.0m fgl (from ground level) to clear roof line - This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree. T2 Oak. 1st Oak RHS rear garden. - Prune epicormic growth back to source up to crown break. - Lightly prune to provide a clearance of up to 1.0 m from the Amelanchier. This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree. T3 Oak. 2nd Oak RHS of rear garden. - Prune epicormic growth back to source up to crown break. T4 Yew. RHS of T3. - Light reduction of the top edge to blend into remaining upper crown. This action will remove up to 0.5m of garden side lateral growth. T5 Oak. On the LHS of the rear garden - Prune epicormic growth back to source up to crown break. - Prune branches to provide a clearance of approximately 4.5m over the lawn area. This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree. T6 Sycamore. LHS rear garden behind T5. - Prune branches to provide a clearance of approximately 4.5m over the shrub bed areas. This will target tertiary & secondary branches. Where thought necessary this may entail the removal of small diameter (<60mm) primary branches so as not to introduce large wounds close to the stem of the tree.
