Proposal
Mixed species woodland comprising both broadleaf and coniferous species. Due to the location on the boundary of the formal garden area there is a diverse range of species of both indigenous and exotic origin which include; beech, oak, hazel, bay laurel, Portuguese laurel, yew, cherry, thuja and cypress. Remove young regeneration < 100cm dbh and undergrowth as necessary to create 1.0m wide working area either side of the proposed new fence line. Lift canopies of adjacent larger trees to a height of 3.0m to facilitate the fencing operations. No trees above 100cm dbh will be removed and fence line will be amended as necessary to avoid conflict with or impact to retained trees. To enable construction of woven willow fencing on property boundary as shown on attached plan. The fencing is hand woven on site using 6.0m long lengths of willow and therefore requires the working space specified in the prescription. The majority of the trees that will be affected are the subject of TPO ref 09S160. Crown reduce by approximately 50% to create new smaller crown shape that can be maintained in more formal form. G5 - Cherry & Portuguese Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus lusitanica) - multiple. Coppice all Laurel from woodland area and sever ivy on stems of mature trees in the group as initial stage of woodland restoration. Yew (Taxus baccata) - several unmanaged trees of poor form overhanging garden area. Lift and head back overhang into garden to provide 3.5m clearance AGL. Cherry (Prunus avium) x 1 Excessive lean and poor form. Fell as initial stage of woodland restoration. Oak (Quercus robur) x 3 Overhanging garden area. Lift and head back overhang into garden to provide 4.0m clearance AGL. Lawson Cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana) x 2 Fell to facilitate landscape proposals.
