Fell trees to facilitate changes to access, enable landscape proposals and as initial stage of woodland restoration plan. Oak - (Quercus robur) x 1 - Historic loss of majority of crown resulting in poor form, decay and declining vigour. Fell tree to facilitate changes to access. Yew (Taxus baccata) x 1 - Unmanaged tree of very poor form adjacent to oak (above). Fell tree due to form. G2 - Lawson Cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana) x 1 - Fell as initial stage of woodland restoration and to improve compatibility of woodland with formal garden landscape. Lebanese Cedar (Cedrus libani) x 1 suppressed - Fell (as above). Suppressed tree. Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) - hedging of poor form. Remove line of conifer hedging. Fell as initial stage of woodland restoration and to improve compatibility with formal garden landscape. Hazel (Corylus avellana) - multiple multi-stemmed trees/shrubs. Coppice as part of woodland restoration. To be managed as coppice stools, creating understorey. Yew (Taxus baccata) - several unmanaged trees of poor form - Crown reduce by approximately 50% to create new smaller crown shape that can be maintained in more formal form. Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) - multiple multi-stemmed trees/shrubs. Clear all Laurel from woodland area as part of woodland restoration. Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) x 1 Large 2m longitudinal cavity at base. Fell due to poor condition and limited safe useful life expectancy (SULE). Oak (Quercus robur) x 1 Low vigour with early signs of stag headed dieback. Retrenchment prune to create new smaller crown of good form, reducing height by 2.5-3.0m and lateral, radial spread by 1.0m. G4 - Poplar (Populus x canadensis) x 1. Pollard 3 leaning stems to 4.0m above ground level (AGL) to stabilise and improve form. Sever ivy on 2 remaining stems and where it exists on stems of other mature trees in the group. Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) - multiple. Coppice all Laurel from woodland area as part of woodland restoration. Yew (Taxus baccata) - several unmanaged trees of poor form. Crown reduce by approximately 50% to create new smaller crown shape that can be maintained in more formal form. G5 - Cherry & Portuguese Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus lusitanica) - multiple. Coppice all Laurel from woodland area and sever ivy on stems of mature trees in the group as initial stage of woodland restoration. Cherry (Prunus avium) x 1 Excessive lean and poor form. Fell as initial stage of woodland restoration. Oak (Quercus robur) x 3 Overhanging garden area. Lift and head back overhang into garden to provide 4.0m clearance AGL. Lawson Cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana) x 2 Fell to facilitate landscape proposals.

Mixed species woodland comprising both broadleaf and coniferous species. Due to the location on the boundary of the formal garden area there is a diverse range of species of both indigenous and exotic origin which include; beech, oak, hazel, bay laurel, Portuguese laurel, yew, cherry, thuja and cypress. Remove young regeneration < 100cm dbh and undergrowth as necessary to create 1.0m wide working area either side of the proposed new fence line. Lift canopies of adjacent larger trees to a height of 3.0m to facilitate the fencing operations. No trees above 100cm dbh will be removed and fence line will be amended as necessary to avoid conflict with or impact to retained trees. To enable construction of woven willow fencing on property boundary as shown on attached plan. The fencing is hand woven on site using 6.0m long lengths of willow and therefore requires the working space specified in the prescription. The majority of the trees that will be affected are the subject of TPO ref 09S160. W1 Beech, Cherry, Oak, Birch, Ash Spec: S1 Reduce crown by a maximum of n% and reshape Reason: R1 Sound arboricultural management

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
