Proposal
T1 - Sycamore T2 - Sycamore T3 - South American Beech T4 - Common Beech T5 - Yew T6 - Oak T7 - Cedar of Lebanon T8 - Oak T9 - Ash T10 - Ash x 3 T11 -Ash T12 - Willow T13 - Willow T14 - Willow T15 - Willow sp. T16 - Leylandii sp. T1 - Sycamore - Reduce crown by 25% to form a continuum with the adjacent sycamore. Tree is leaning over an area of high visitor footfall, has its roots affected on the opposite side to which it is leaning by the presence of a sunken path and shows fungal growth at the base. T2 - Sycamore - Remove 4m of over-extension from the top of the tree. T3 - South American Beech - Reduce the crown by 30%. Past wind damage to the central branches has left the outer branches exposed and vulnerable to further wind damage. T4 - Common Beech - Reduce overall height by 75%. Significant historical damage to the trunk leaves the tree strength compromised. The tree leans over a path with moderate public footfall. T5 - Yew - Cut tree down to 3' and allow to regrow from base. While in good health, the tree blocks the view from the historical Capability Brown's Woodland Walk towards the ancient oaks on Conneybarrow Hill. 2016 is the tercentenary of Brown's birth and will have associated events taking place during the year. The removal will reinstate one of the original views. T6 - Oak - Selectively lift the lower canopy to reinstate the original views to Carfax Conduit (circled in photos). This again is one of Brown's original views. T7 - Cedar of Lebanon - Selectively remove a few branches from the lower limbs that extend horizontally. This to remove some weight from an already unbalanced tree, having lost significant sections in the past. This too, is an area of high footfall. T8 - Oak - Remove the 4 or 5 lower limbs, cut the strapping that doesn't comply with BS, and allow the tree, which is split to ground level, to fall outwards and stabilize itself. T9 - Ash - Remove main branches that are leaning out over the River Thames and so stabilise the tree which is growing from the side of the bank and about 45 degrees. T10 - Ash (group of 3) - Reduce crown by 25% to remove over extended and weaker limbs which become more exposed when works carried out to adjacent tree (no.11). T11 - Ash - Reduce crown by 50% to just below area of rot so removing weak and over-extended growth. T12 - Willow - Pollard to 5' - height of previous pollarding. T13 - Willow - Pollard to 10' height and remove lower branches from river. T14 - Willow - Pollard to 4' height. T15 - Willow sp. - Pollard to 8' height. T16 - Leylandii sp. - Remove. Tree has little amenity value, is shading the garden beneath, is dwarfing the adjacent building and killing the boundary hedging to both the building as well as the boundary hedge at the entrance to the wider property. T1 - Ash T2 - Ash T1 - Ash - reduce by 50%. The tree has developed a crack from the ground to about 7' up and to a depth of about the centre of the trunk. To prevent twisting and perhaps breaking out, a 50% reduction will remove the weight and give a longer lifespan to that remaining part. T2 - Ash - Reduce top branches by 15'. Removal of the protection afforded to the upper part of this tree by the adjacent ash (Ash 1 - 50% reduction) the upper branches which are spindly, are prone to wind damage as they now become exposed. T1 - London Plane T1 - London Plane - reduce to 12' or remove completely. At a height of about 18' there is a very significant cavity in the tree maybe 5' or 6' deep. At this point the tree is completely hollow like a hosepipe. With the weight above this point it makes the tree unsafe. T1 - Beech T2 - London Plane T1 - Beech - reduce by 50%. A major branch has torn off at about 30' where the heartwood has become spongy. The remaining two branches above the tear are now dangerous, because of the nature of the heartwood and their significant weight. The tree would be reduced to just below the tear. A major branch on the west side would also require to be shortened by 50% to balance the tree. T2 - London Plane - shorten (or remove) a single bough - dependant upon the level of rot found when climbing. A significant lesion can be seen on a major branch about half way along its length (30'), dependant upon the degree of infection, the branch will have weight removed from its peripheral 1/3 or, in a worse case scenario, the whole branch removed, back to the trunk. T1 - Oak T2 - Aspen T3 - Aspen T1 - Oak - reduce by 50%. The tree was a cluster of 4 separate trunks connected just above ground level. One trunk recently broke out leaving the three remaining unstable. A 50% reduction will bring about stability and extend the life of the tree. T2 - Aspen - felling of tee. A major split has occurred at the fork at a height of about 25'. This has rendered the whole of the top half of the tree unstable and liable to fall - especially when new leaf growth occurs. There is no value to retaining the tree as the remainder would be trunk only. T3 - Aspen - felling of tree. The top 50% of the tree has collapsed, at a point of a previous branch loss, and is resting in an adjacent tree. There is no value in retaining the tree as it is trunk only. Remarks:
