  • P21/S3608/TCA Decided

Dragonsfield, Mill Street, Stanton St John, OX33 1HQ

G1- Mixed lapsed hedge line consisting of Thuja, Cypress and Salix. Trees have significantly out-grown their location. Low voltage 'ABC' overhead powerline is running through the hedge line that provides electrical supply to majority of the village, currently defined as 'Category A' meaning that they are at or above the level of the power line and within the Live Zone of the conductors. Trees have been historically pruned away from the network but this is no longer feasible as the vertical stems are over grown. Trees are also causing concern for the boundary wall they are growing adjacent to, visible signs of stress to the mortar. Willow has poor stem structure and is pinched between two cypress with over extended lateral limb over the road. Customer wishes to have these trees felled and ground out to negate any further concern with our network and their wall. Customer will re-plant hedge line with slow growing, native hedging, such as Taxus or Buxus. We understand the possible amenity value of this hedge line, but we believe the electrical and structural risks outweigh this and a native, manageable hedge will be more suitable and sustainable to the location.
