Planning application

Haydown, Elvendon Road, Goring, Oxon

Granted South Oxfordshire P14/S4677/TPO Works to TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 - Horse Chestnut - reduce dominant rogue stem to lessen likelihood of failure and significant damage to garage. To include removal of main scaffold branch at approx 6m agl (please advise if removal of whole tree is considered necessary). Group G1 & G2 - crown clean and prune back from garden and roadside. Above proposals discussed with Matt Gulliford (owner wishes to retain the Horse Chestnut, but not at the expense of the garage).

T1 - Horse Chestnut - section fell to ground level and carry out replacement planting. Not a particularly large or impressive specimen and prudent safe retention will require regular crown reduction and associated written applications to the LPA under the TPO regulations. Removal and replacement planting is therefore a more sustainable alternative going forward. T3 - Sycamore - section fell to ground level. No future - likely to spiral into further physiological decline. T9 - Horse Chestnut - section fell to ground level and carry out replacement planting. Long-term compatability and sustainability with surrounding structures questionable. Safe retention will require repeated on-going crown reduction and associated written applications to the LPA under the TPO regulations. Removal and replacement planting is therefore a more sustainable alternative going forward. T3 - Sycamore

T2 - Obscures Vision of vehicles coming from villiage side. When vehicles enter property some have to take two attempts. Base appears exposed on one side, and the whole tree looks vunerable in strong winds. We would like to remove it.

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
