TPO 74/2009, Specification is G2 (11 Lime and 2 Walnut). The specific trees within G2 are 3 trees directly opposite the back of 2 Jubilee Gardens, highlighted in the enclosed sketch. Request: Preservation Order: Thame Area no. 74/2009 stated that on 22 September 2009 the council placed a tree preservation order on the trees surrounding our property. The reason given - the trees have been identified as making a contribution to the amenity of the local area. Unfortunately the trees were never pollarded this has resulted in the trees growing far too tall. The trees belong to Lord Williams School who I have been in contact with and they hae no objection to the tree felling as it would mean less cost for them to maintain. New trees had been planted in the Car park of the school 11 years ago (situated on the other side f the road from the trees in this request to be felled) and these have now grown to a height to take over the role of contributing to the amenity, (shielding the houses from the road). These three trees (approx 9 metres from the ouse) take most of the sunlight and water from the garden. The grass never grows properly as is constantly covered in falling branches, leaves, twigs and mos and suffers water loss due to the trees. We are also very restricted in the type of plants we can grow. The roof of the house and garage is constantly covered in moss and the house is very dark now, all very depressing. We would like you to consider if these trees at the edge of our property are absolutely necessary to the amenity of the area now considering the growth of the new trees directly behind them.

T1: Birch: Twin stemmed Birch with a crown break a couple of feet above ground level. This tree has had cobra bracing installed and has previously had a crown reduction undertaken due to the applicants concerns over its safety with its close proximity to their own and neighbouring properties and the high volume of pedestrians who walk past the house particularly during the school pick up and drop off timings. The applicant wishes to reduce the height of the tree by 4 metres, to a point just above the previous pruning points and the lateral branches by up to 1 metre. T2, T3 and T4: Birch: Applicant wishes to carry out a 2m crown reduction of all 3 trees. These trees were planted by the applicant on the basis that they would be maintained as small trees owing to the size of space in this area of the garden and the proximity of buildings.

There are two trees in the front garden Permission is requested to fell both trees. Tree 1 = Weeping Birch Tree Tree 2 = Maple Tree Weeping Birch (Tree 1) This has become too large for the site, the roots are lifting the paving around it, making it a trip hazard. Roots have also entered the nearby drains, causing problems. Permission is sought to fell the tree, to make safe access to the property and to make space on the driveway for off street parking. (There is a nearby primary school, and parking can be a challenge.) Maple (Tree 2) This tree has also become too big for its location, which is very close to the boundary of No. 5 and No. 7 Vicarage Rd, causing lifting of the paving around it. It is also very close to both houses. Permission is sought to fell this tree.
