Planning application

8 Radnor Close, Henley on Thames, Oxon, RG9 2DA

Decided South Oxfordshire P14/S4320/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T1 - Sycamore 1 x Sycamore with three stems. Reduce lower canopy lateral branches by 3m branch lengths, as can be safely achieved using a rope and harness, from one stem which overhangs the rear garden of No.8 Radnor Close. Works will be subject to the school's agreement and Local Authority approval. As advised, removing 1m branch lengths to follow best pruning practice by removing no more than 30% foliage area that will be impractical to safely achieve. Removing more than suggested may not be approved by the LPA since it may be interpreted as detrimental to health. Install bird spike deterrants to lower lateral, horizontal branches as reasonably practical to access. Install from near branch tips to trunk boundary. Supply and install. Remarks:

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
