Planning application

Marigold Cottage, High Street, South Moreton, Didcot, OX11 9AD

Decided South Oxfordshire P14/S4309/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

Conifer We would like to fell an overgrown Conifer. It has split out into 3 main trunks. It is "dead" all down one side. It is crowding out two more attractive trees (deciduous weeping willow and a pink flowering cherry type tree). It is causing these more attractive trees to become distorted and mishapen and I fear for their long term health. It looks like an overgrown Leylandii. My tree surgeon fears one or more of the three trunks could split and fall at any time. It casts an ominous and forboding shadow over my garden and my neighbours. Quite frankly it has nothing going for it and should really be taken down as soon as possible. We want to plant a Victoria Plum instead. I attach photos of the monstrosity. Remarks:

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
