1 x Sycamore - adjacent to the boundary fence between 18 & 17 High Street. The tree in question is a large Sycamore situated adjacent to the boundary fence between 18 and 17 High Street, and towards the bottom of the gardens, furthest from the houses. These properties are in the Wallingford Conservation Area, and the rear gardens back onto an area of waste ground at the end of the small Thames Street car park opposite St Peter's Church. Please see attached sketch plan (not to scale) of the immediate area. I also attach photos showing the location and giving some idea of the height and spread of the tree. The tree is now very large and causes excessive shading to the gardens of both 17 and 18 High Street, being at least as high as the length of the gardens. The tree is easily identifiable as it is the only large Sycamore tree in either garden, and grows close to the fence between the gardens. There is currently some garden refurbishment under way in the garden of 18 High Street, near to the tree. I have consulted a local tree surgeon who recently carried out work on a tree in a nearby garden. His advice is to reduce the crown by 40% and I am therefore giving the required six weeks notice of my intention to carry out this work. Remarks:

T1 - Copper Beech - Reduce branches by approximately 2 metres focusing mainly on lateral branches rather than the top. Lift canopy to provide statutory clearance over the road and clear from service cables. T2 - Tulip Tree - Reduce by approximately 3 metres to restore balance within the crown due to previous limb failure leaving the tree unbalanced. T3 - Horse Chestnut - Reduce by approximately 3 to 4 metres, leaving a natural flowing crown outline and remove major deadwood. T4 - To fell and remove 1 x Yew tree and install eco plugs to prevent re-growth.

T1 Copper Beech. Low canopy over road and footpath. To raise canopy to statutory clearances, (5.2m over road, 2.5m over footpath). To remove deadwood greater than 60mm over road and footpath, for safety purposes, minimising any chance for larger falling deadwood in windy conditions.

Ash (T2 of TPO 09/2019) - Reduce back crown over single storey block D4 by a maximum of 4m at its widest point (work mainly relates to over extended limbs over roof). Reduce back low branches over the roof to create 3m clearance. Cutback branches from front of the adjacent building (D6) to create 2-3m clearance. To help balance the crown, reduce remaining crown by approx. 2m. To avoid altering the balance of the tree as a whole, the crown of the tree should be reduced in proportion to its original shape. All pruning cuts must be made at branch junctions, leaving sufficient live growth to maintain or enhance crown form.
