P16/S4852/TPO Decided
28-34 Woodlands Road, Sonning Common
On Mrs Stanley's property there are two common Oak trees (Quercus robur) that need attention. The largest of the two trees shown as T1 on the map needs a crown reduction in height by 3 metres and a reduction in width by 2 metres encouraging a broad natural shape all round with all pruning points left with new growth/leaf point. this will improve the light into Mrs Stanleys house/flower beds and reduce the slippery path caused by the shade that gros moss. The tree also needs a full major dead wood removal to leave the tree looking tidy/smart for finishing touches. Tree number two marked as T2 on map is the smaller of the two and leans over electric/phone lines trying to get to the light. This tree needs to have some weight removed, 2 metre in reduction in height and 1 metre reduction in width, all dead wood removed, leaving broad natural shape. G1 An area of land that comprises of 10 oaks Spec: S1 Reduce crown height by approximately 1m evenly reduce lateral spread by approximately 0.5m Spec: S1 T1 Reduce crown height by approximately 2m evenly reduce lateral spread by approximately 1m Spec: S3 T1 and T2 Remove deadwood. North Lea, Baker Street, Aston Tirrold, Didcot, OX11 9DD
Walnut tree Fell tree as it is far too big a tree for its location and now a poor quality tree as it has been pollrded on too many successive occasions as it is located directly below an overhead cable approximately 5-6m high. Tree to be replanted with a multi-stemmed tree such as Cercis siliqaustrum or Amelanchier lamarckii which would not interfere with the over head cable. Remarks:

P16/S4623/TCA Decided
St Andrews Church, Church Close, East Hagbourne, Didcot, OX11 9ND
Yew tree hedge Yew tree hedge which forms the boundary between St Andrews Church and The Old Stables located immediately behind The Old Stables. These trees were once a managed hedge but have been allowed to grow unmaintained for a number of years. They form the boundary between the two properties but are now causing obstruction to the rear windows of The Old Stables and creating significant moss and debris to the roof and guttering. We have sought the advice of an arborist and together with the Church we have all agreed that we would like to carry out the recommended works as soon as possible (October is the recommended month). The recommonded works are as follows: 1. To reduce the height of the hedge by no more than half 2. To reduce and even out the rear face of the hedge (that side that is currently touching The Old Stables). 3. To regularly maintain thereafter as a managed hedge. Remarks:

T2 - Mature Walnut - Reduce over extended lateral growth by 1.5-2m. The overall spread of crown to be reduced from 8m to 6.5m/6m at widest point. Thin by up to 10% to alleviate "sail" affect. Mature hollow specimen, a reduction of lateral weight would reduce the chance of failure occurring on main scaffold limbs as it has in the past. T3 - Juniper - fell tree cutting stump to ground level. Collapsing specimen adjacent to kitchen garden wall. Fell and replace with a more appropriate species nearby. TG4 - Clear fell over mature hedgerow including two strands of conifers various shrubs and one pollareded Horse Chestnut. Overgrown Leyland Cypress hedge, several overgrown shrubs and pollarded Horse Chestnut along field edge adjacent to neighbouring property. A mixed native hedgerow is proposed to be planted instead. TG5-6 - Mixed hedgerow and Hornbeam hedge. Trim hedges top and garden side. Remarks:
