What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

Remove deadwood, and ivy from canopy of oak tree T1. Reduce canopy by up to 10% (No more than 1.5m reduction) to retain even density and structure throughout. Given the proximity of the tree to surrounding properties, maintenance pruning would be ideal to retain the tree at no more than its current size and will prevent any heavier reductions potentially being required in future. The tree was reduced 10-11 years ago by circa 5-6m and I would consider the maintenance reduction of 1.5m necessary arboricultural management given the heavy pruning done prior.
