Planning application

ALL SAINTS CHURCH, BIRDINGBURY ROAD, LEAMINGTON HASTINGS, CV23 8DY

Granted Rugby R23/0389 Trees in conservation area

Works: Trees Small domestic

Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Chestnut tree is shown on sketch of churchyard and accompanying photographs. The latter pictures show damage to the listed boundary wall caused by the tree roots. They also show proximity of tree to wall and path, and evidence of decline in the condition of the tree. Small boughs are already falling and larger dead branches can be seen, one with a hole in it. These overhang the wall, road and path. They also show the tree weighted to fall on the road and wall as it continues to decline. Work proposed is to fell the tree to as near ground level as possible. To be carried out by climbing tree with rope and cutting small pieces from the top down, lowering these into churchyard below and chipping small branches. Trunks and larger branches to be cut in lengths of circa 20cm for eventual removal from site for logs. With tree down, roots to be cut back from wall and foundations (damaged wall has already been taken down) before wall is restored and rebuilt.
