We are acting on behalf of the property owner in relation to two trees located within the front garden of the above address, and we hereby submit a request for consent to undertake tree removal works. Following a detailed visual tree assessment, one of the trees (Tree 1 – Coast Redwood) has been identified as having a substantial basal decay cavity (rot pocket) at the base of the main stem. This defect indicates advanced fungal decay, significantly reducing the structural integrity and load-bearing capacity of the tree. As a result, the tree presents an elevated risk of stem failure, particularly under dynamic loading conditions such as high winds. Given the tree’s location adjacent to the public highway and property frontage, its failure would present a foreseeable risk to pedestrians, vehicles, and nearby structures. In our professional opinion, the risk level is no longer acceptable, and remedial pruning would not sufficiently mitigate the structural concerns. Therefore, removal is recommended as the most appropriate course of action. The second tree (Tree 2 – Oak Tree), positioned in close proximity, is of limited physiological quality and exhibits constrained growth due to spatial competition. Its retention would not be sustainable in the long term, and removal is proposed in conjunction with Tree 1 to allow for appropriate future replanting and site management. All works will be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 (Tree Work – Recommendations). Prior to commencement, checks will be undertaken to ensure compliance with wildlife legislation, including inspection for nesting birds and protected species. We kindly request confirmation as to whether the trees are subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and/or located within a Conservation Area, and we seek formal consent to proceed with the proposed works. Please find attached photographs of the trees and the identified defects in support of this application.

Suggested work: - fell to ground level This 4m mature cypress tree has been heavily pruned on the neighbours side. This will not regrow. The tree is now lopsided and offers little amenity value. Suggested work: - fell to ground level This 3.5m holly tree has grown unruly. Suggested work: - trim into a more compact round shape This 14m mature multi-stem pine tree overhangs the clients outbuilding, dropping a large amount of needles into the garden. Large Laurel tree in back garden (no other trees in garden). Tree has become over grown and very heavy and the weight is putting strain on the tree trunk and jeopardising the stability and health of the tree. It needs a crown reduction , especially at the sides and bottom of the tree. Expected crown reduction will be approximately 30%, approximately 1.5 metres of pruning on the height and spread of the tree all around. Tree surgeon to carry out the work is Les West. Our neighbours at 136 where the tree part overhangs are fully supportive and collaborating on the reduction.

No. 15 Strawberry Hill Road Twickenham

T1. Himalayan Birch Rear Garden: Phytophthora bleeding canker is a plausible and common cause of lower-trunk bark damage in Himalayan birch, especially in moist or compacted soils. The condition is often triggered or exacerbated by environmental stress, rather than occurring in isolation. Visible decay usually indicates a progressive decline process, often involving multiple agents. Unfortunately, the extent of the decay is affecting the stability of the tree and, therefore, removal is our only option. Dismantle in sections using rigging equipment to a level as close as possible to the surrounding soil. Grind out the stump. The tree's current height is 14m, and its crown spread is 6m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 0.0m, and the crown spread is 0.0m
