ORLEANS PARK SCHOOL, Orleans Park School, Richmond Road, Twickenham, TW1 3BB
Works Specification Summary T001, T002 and T004 Reduce the previously reduced/heavily reduced branches back to the previous pruning points, and to reduce the remaining crown by approximately 2m-3m to match and stabilise deadwood. The purpose of the works is to reduce crown loading, manage foreseeable branch failure risk and support the continued retention of the trees. Final pruning cuts, retained growth points and the extent of reduction should be determined on site by a competent arboricultural contractor, working to the supplied specification and BS3998. T003 and T005 Undertake selective branch reduction only, as illustrated in the supporting photographs. Works should only target identified branches that have outgrown the generally regarded outline of the canopy. These branches are displaying features comparable to those associated with the recent major branch failure within the linear group. The works should be limited to the minimum necessary to reduce foreseeable risk while retaining the overall form, canopy function and amenity value of the trees. All pruning works should be undertaken in accordance with BS3998 by a suitably competent and insured arboricultural contractor. Update to Works: T001 – London plane Withdraw the previously proposed crown reduction. Proceed with aerial inspection and removal of deadwood only. T002 – London plane Withdraw the previously proposed crown reduction. Proceed with aerial inspection and removal of deadwood only. T003 – Atlas cedar Proceed with the previously proposed selective branch reduction. An aerial inspection is also proposed. T004 – London plane Withdraw the previously proposed wider crown reduction. Proceed with aerial inspection, removal of deadwood, and selective branch reduction over the school side only. T005 – Atlas cedar Proceed with the previously proposed selective branch reduction as originally submitted. The selective branch reductions are recommended due to features such as splits and dysfunctional areas of primary branches located over high use areas. The school’s preferred outcome remains the retention and responsible management of the trees, while reducing foreseeable

T001, T002 and T004 – three mature London plane trees (Platanus × hispanica) at Orleans Park School adjacent to Richmond Road: crown reduce each tree by up to 3 m in height and lateral spread, retaining balanced natural crown outlines and pruning to suitable secondary growth points in accordance with BS 3998:2010; concentrate the T002 reduction on the major branches associated with the identified wound/potential crack and the crown overhanging Richmond Road. As safe access to the road-facing crowns requires substantial traffic management, the applicant requests local-authority support through the waiver or reduction of Council-controlled fees, confirmation of the minimum compliant traffic-management arrangement, and operational coordination or assistance with the required road closure.
