What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

This is a tree at the back of the garden of our next door neighbours number 3 Chislehurst Road, the tree is very close to the boundary wall. The tree has not been pruned since we've been living here (6years) and it's overhanging a lot on our side over our parking area creating a lot of work during autumn when the leafs fall. In spring and summer our cars are completely covered in bird poop so we would like to trim the tree a little bit on our side only. Prune Crown by 2.5m on south and west sides (those parts which overhang the site) to create new crown radius of 4.5m on these sides. This will be from previous pruning points from past pruning. Crown lift to 8m over site.

REAR GARDEN T1 Silver Birch (Betula pendula) Reduce height by approximately 1m below previous reduction points (removing approximately 2-3m of growth). Reduce laterally back to previous reduction points (removing 1-2m of growth) while still maintaining furnishing growth to help support the tree. This work is the first stage of a gradual retrenchment pruning plan to eventually leave a much smaller tree as it is becoming too large for its location. Final height 7m final spread 4m. FRONT GARDEN T3 Cherry (Prunus spp) Refuce by 0.5-1m back to previous reduction points. Remove x1 low limb growing over clients driveway to avoid it being damaged by vehicles. Final height = 3m and final spread = 2m.
