tree one: cherry in front drive/ garden that has died. We want it cut down so it can be replaced. tree two: bay tree in vegetable patch at rear of back garden that has grown too big (it was planted from a pot). It shades the vegetable patch and needs to be removed with a replacement in a large pot. tree three: nestling against the end of our wall, from previous experience of similar saplings not managed in time, that resulting in a large section of the historic wall made unsafe and needing rebuilding. This was after the second attempt to get permission to cut down by which time the damage was done. Those trees were in my neighbour’s garden no. 93.

Proposed Works to Trees in a Conservation Area T1 – Silver Birch Current approximate dimensions: 10–12 metres in height with an overall crown spread of approximately 5–6 metres. Undertake a sympathetic crown reduction, reducing the height by approximately 2 metres and the lateral branch growth by approximately 0.5–1 metre. Reduce branches extending towards the neighbouring property by up to 1.5 metres to provide suitable clearance. The finished tree will measure approximately 8–10 metres in height with an overall crown spread of approximately 4–5 metres. Prune back to suitable secondary growth points, retaining a balanced and natural crown form. Reason: To manage the tree at a suitable size for its location and reduce encroachment towards the neighbouring property while retaining its natural form, screening and amenity value. T2 and T3 – Portuguese Laurels Reduce the height of both Portuguese laurels by approximately 2 metres and reduce the lateral branch growth by approximately 1 metre. Cut back branches growing towards the building by up to 1.5 metres to provide approximately 1 metre of clearance. Prune back to suitable growth points, retaining balanced crowns and the screening provided by the trees. Reason: To maintain the trees at an appropriate size for their location and provide reasonable clearance from the building while retaining their screening and amenity value. B1 – Bamboo Screening Reduce the current height of the bamboo screening by approximately 1 metre, bringing it to just below gutter height. Retain sufficient height and density to continue providing privacy and screening. All tree works will be undertaken in accordance with BS 3998:2010 – Tree Work Recommendations.

L1 Lime - fell. We are unsure if this is covered by a TPO as it is sandwiched between 2 fine TPO trees (Chestnut and Plane). It has been brutally pollarded by our neighbours in River Reach over the last 15 years and no longer has any discerning character other than the main trunk. Due to the size of the adjacent TPO trees it is unlikely that any new tree would grow so we are not proposing replacement. S1 & S2 Sycamores - fell. These are self-seeded saplings that have grown larger in an inappropriate position under the canopies of adjacent TPO trees. C1 Cedar - This has grown considerably over the past 15 years and has now caused subsidence to our property. The insurance company has recommended it is felled.

G1 – Holly Group – 3 trees Remove three mature Holly trees to ground level. The tallest Holly is approximately 30ft in height with a crown spread of approximately 10ft. The two remaining Hollies are approximately 20ft in height, each with a crown spread of approximately 10ft. All three trees are in a severe state of decline. The tallest Holly has experienced approximately 70% crown dieback, while the two smaller Hollies have each experienced approximately 60% crown dieback. The trees have been monitored over the past 12 months and have continued to deteriorate, with ongoing loss of live growth and no significant signs of recovery. Due to the extent of the crown dieback and continued decline, the trees are considered to have a significantly reduced vitality and are no longer considered suitable for retention. Their location immediately adjacent to the public highway and pavement increases the potential risk to pedestrians and road users from dead or failing branches and potential tree failure. Removal to ground level is therefore recommended on arboricultural and public safety grounds.

01 - Purple Plum - Carefully fell to near ground level. 01 - The removal is proposed on arboricultural and safety grounds, as dead trees can become structurally unstable and present an increased risk of branch or stem failure. 02 - Mixed Hedge - Cut back by 0.5m and reduce the height by 0.5m. 02 - Cut back lateral growth by approximately 0.5 metres and reduce overall height by approximately 0.5 metres to formalise and maintain the hedge The proposed works constitute routine horticultural management and will improve the hedge's appearance. 03 - Mixed Hedge - Cut back by 1 m and reduce height by 0.5 m. 03 - Cut back lateral growth by approximately 1 metre and reduce overall height by approximately 0.5 metres to formalise and maintain the hedge. improve the hedge's visual appearance, the overall design, usability, and planting structure of the site. 04 - Elaeagnus - Carefully fell to near ground level. 04-The proposed removal forms part of a broader landscaping scheme intended to enhance the overall design, usability, and planting structure of the site. 05 - Mixed Hedge - Carefully fell to near ground level. 05 - to facilitate a new landscape improvement project. The removal is necessary to allow for the implementation of revised planting and landscape creating opportunities for improved species diversity, visual amenity, and long-term site enhancement. 06 - Eucalyptus - Reduce overall size of crown by 4m ( previous points) 06 - The tree has been subject to reduction works in the past, and the proposed pruning is intended to manage regrowth from those previous cuts, reduce end-weight on extended limbs, and minimise The works will retain the tree's contribution to the Conservation Area while maintaining a safe and sustainable crown structure.

76 Bushy Park Road Teddington TW11 9DG
For the purposes of both tree health and avoiding any nuisance to our neighbours from overlapping branches and light reduction, we wish to do the following works to 2 trees in our garden: Crown reduction to reduce the spread of the Silver Birch Tree from c 8m to 6m (height reduction by 2m from c12m to a maximum height of approx 10m) as shown as #1 near the rear boundary wall of our property in the attached plan. We also wish to remove a damaged 2.5 meter branch which is growing over our fence into the neighbour's property at 26 Fairfax Road. The branch comes out of the smaller right-hand of the 2 stems (viewed from our house) which grow from the trunk of the tree at 1m height. The smaller stem has a 15cm diameter at 1.5m above ground, and is below the main crown so will not constitute crown lifting. We will also want to do up to 20% crown thinning of the tree. For the Hawthorn Tree shown in the plan as #2 on the left hand side of our rear garden, We wish to undertake crown thinning of up to 20% and crown reduction of up to 1m, reducing the spread of the tree to c 2.5m and the maximum height to 3m once all stray shoots have been removed.

The following trees are proposed for complete removal: 1 × Norway spruce (Tree 1 on sketch) – fell to ground level and remove the tree. 1 × Walnut (Tree 2 on sketch) – fell to ground level and remove the tree. 1 × Sycamore (Tree 3 on sketch) – fell to ground level and remove the tree. All three trees are to be completely removed, including the main stems and crowns. Stumps may be retained below ground level or ground out as appropriate. The trees are located within the rear garden of the property and are not visible from the public highway or other public viewpoints. They may be visible from neighbouring private gardens. The property has a relatively small rear garden and the existing trees occupy a substantial area of the garden within an established flower bed. Their current size and spread are disproportionate to the scale of the garden and dwelling and result in significant overshadowing of the house and garden. The proposed removal would allow the existing planting area to be reduced and the garden to be reconfigured to create a more proportionate and usable outdoor space. The intention is not to remove greenery or tree planting from the garden. Rather, the existing trees would be replaced with smaller, appropriately scaled trees that are better suited to the limited size of the garden and can be maintained at an appropriate mature scale. The replacement planting would retain a green and landscaped character and continue to provide tree cover, while allowing a greater proportion of the garden to remain usable and reducing the excessive overshadowing caused by the existing trees. Given that the trees are contained within the rear garden and have no visibility from the public realm, the proposal would have limited impact on public views of the conservation area. The proposed replacement planting would ensure that the garden continues to contribute positively to its green character.
