The tree is growing close to an old boundary wall that will, in time, be damaged by it. Because horse chestnut leaves are large, the tree casts a very deep shade over the gardens of both the Thames Eyot flats and adjacent properties. The works to be carried out are to dismantle and fell the tree, replanting with a smaller species such as an ornamental cherry.
