Sycamore Tree - raise the canopy of the tree - as it is blocking light and also due to bad weather some of the lower branches are dropping due to old age and also possible rotting 1. The Location Plan Map attached from google maps. However, it looks like an outdated version as we now have a new building next to us which took 2 years to build. So, the tree is even bigger than on the image. The tree is a mature Sycamore. It is physically rooted in the rear garden of 88 Sandy Lane, Teddington, TW11 0DF. The tree's canopy extends substantially over the boundary fence into the rear garden of the applicant at 94 Sandy Lane, TW11 0DF. I have drawn a circle in blue of the perimeter of the canopy of the tree where the trunk sits in number 88's garden. 2. Description of Proposed Works & Methodology Proposed Works: > * Lateral crown reduction of the overhanging canopy on the eastern side of T1 (Sycamore) by up to 2.5 metres, pruning back to suitable growth points, to clear the boundary line of 94 Sandy Lane. • Crown lift the overhanging canopy to 4 metres above ground level by removing lower secondary and tertiary branches. • Complete removal of all dead, dying, or structurally compromised wood within the overhanging canopy section. Methodology: > * All tree works are to be carried out in strict accordance with BS 3998:2010 (Tree Work – Recommendations). Pruning cuts will be made cleanly just outside the branch collar using sterile, sharp hand tools to minimize the risk of decay or disease transmission to the parent tree. 3. Justification for the Works Arboricultural Justification: • Health and Safety: The overhanging canopy contains deadwood and rotting branches that are actively failing and falling into the garden of 94 Sandy Lane, posing a direct safety hazard to the occupants and limiting the safe use of the garden. Removing this deadwood is necessary for risk mitigation. • Property Encroachment & Shading: The lateral growth of the Sycamore has become excessively overgrown, completely dominating the rear aspect of 94 Sandy Lane and causing severe, unreasonable suppression of natural light. • Balanced Management: The proposed minor lateral reduction and crown lifting will effectively manage the encroachment and restore ambient light to the affected property, without detrimentally impacting the overall structural health, stability, or visual amenity value of the tree within the local area.
