Refused Richmond upon Thames 23/T0069/TPO Works to Trees Under TPO

Works: Trees

Refused. Only the applicant can appeal, within the statutory time limit, and a revised scheme can be submitted instead.

Proposal

There are two large London Plane trees located in The Retreat outside 21 Retreat Road and 37-40 Waterside Court respectively. Both trees are well managed and pruned every 4 or 5 years to control the crown of the tree and remove dead wood. The cobbles and block paving within close proximity of both trees is lifting significantly to the extent that it has become a health and safety hazard for pedestrians walking on the paving. We have considered various possible remedies but the only viable option is to lift the affected areas of cobbles and block paving, cut out the tree roots that are causing the cobbles and block paving to lift up, prepare the ground and re-lay the cobbles and block paving to the correct levels in order to provide a safe surface for pedestrians.
