What this refusal means

Richmond upon Thames refused this application for the reasons on the decision notice; only the applicant can appeal, and refused schemes often return in revised form. More in our guide to what happens after a planning decision.

About householder applications

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden, such as extensions, lofts and outbuildings, and cannot create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. More in our guide to planning application types.

All work detailed below has been suggested by and will be done by a certified Tree Surgeon. All trees other than the Ash are located within our garden. T1 Eucalyptus: Re-pollard, cut to previous points April 2023. The growth since the last cut has been excessive and one large branch (6m long) fell off in the high winds in Oct 25. T2 Norway Spruce: Re pollard, cut to previous points and trim lower branches, one is 4m long on a tree 11m high, to provide balance and shape T3 Lawson Cypress: Re-pollard, cut to previous points and shape lower branches to provide room for both trees (T2 and T3) T4 Cherry: Approx 8m high. Prune by 30% to manage height T5 Ash: Approx 17m high located in neighbouring property (21 Waldegrave Gardens). Cut lower branch which completely overhangs our garden. Aim to improve light to lawn and shrubs. Branch to be removed and cut off point is shown in exhibit 5. This has been discussed and agreed with the owner of 21 Waldegrave Gardens. T6 Maple: Approx 8m high. Prune by 30% to manage height.
