Richmond upon Thames refused this application for the reasons on the decision notice; only the applicant can appeal, and refused schemes often return in revised form. More in our guide to what happens after a planning decision.

About householder applications

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden, such as extensions, lofts and outbuildings, and cannot create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. More in our guide to planning application types.

A horse chestnut tree to the corner of the rear garden. It appeared to be dead & rotting to one branch with extensive fungus evident. An arborist was consulted who confirmed that the entire tree is sadly dead. Our concern is obviously safety as the prime consideration for the 2 adjoining gardens (1 to the rear & 1 to the side). We have no option other than to fell on his recommendation. There is no TPO but Royal Road is in a conversation area.
