Proposal

T1 - Turkey Oak. This rather strange looking tree can only be seen by residents of 7 , 8 and possibly 9 Wellesford Close and has little if any amenity value. It does cause excessive shading to the gardens of Wellesford Close. This application is to seek the advice of the Council Tree Officer with a view to reducing the height from 13 to 10 metres and the branches towards the North also by 3 metres from 8m radius to 5m. This will also tend to balance the tree somewhat as it does seem weighted to one side. There is a lot of dead wood in this tree which would be removed at the same time as any works that are approved by Council. Access can be achieved by liaising with applicant who can provide the occupants name and phone number.

    T1- Cedar (Cedrus Atlantica). Selective pruning of the lateral crown to reduce over extended limbs by 1.5-2m (Predominately on the east and west sides to rebalance), reduce other limbs where necessary to appropriate growth points with the goal of reducing weight load and rebalancing the crown. Remove deadwood over 40mm diameter and 50cm length. Reduce or remove large dead limb on west side of tree at 3m height. Supply and installation of 3x non-invasive 8tn Cobra bracing between three co-dominant stems, to reduce movement between branch unions and mitigate likelihood of structural failure. Use of a mobile elevated working platform (cherry picker) will be utilised to ensure we prune to the appropriate points, for tree health and aesthetics.

    Trees 1 and 2 (adjacent 150) prune back from their dwelling/garage by circa 3m and remove deadwood. The branches of both trees are extending across the curtilage of 150 Fleetwood Close. Some are in close proximity to the dwelling. Early pruning work, as requested, will enable the tree crown to be managed without recourse to substantial pruning cuts. Early intervention is therefore considered to be best practice in accordance with BS3998:2010: Tree Works - Recommendations. Tree 3 reduce height to circa 6m above ground level. The tree is in decline and presents no regenerative growth from lower on the branches or stem structure. If regenerative growth had been present it would have been feasible to specify pruning works to suitable growth points. Given the state of decline and absence of suitable pruning points it is considered prudent to remove the major branches but retain the lower stem for its ecological value. Works can be undertaken in accordance with BS3998:2010: Tree Works - Recommendations.
