    40 QUAGGY WALK, BLACKHEATH, LONDON, SE3 9EJ

T1 Purple plum - fell to ground level. This tree outside the front of no.40 is potentially hazardous. On several historic pruning wounds are fruiting bodies of Phellinus. There's a lot of water shoot growth up the lower half of the canopy on the main primary and secondary stems. Upon sounding, the tension wood is extremely decayed and the tree is leaning towards the path and road close by. A replacement will be planted very nearby in the front garden.

T1 Hybrid Oak. This is a BCER-owned street tree adjacent to the boundary of no.89 Blackheath Park. We ask permission for a 2m reduction (from 7m to 5m radial spread) of branches back to suitable growth points on all compass directions on the lower half of the canopy. Nothing to be removed off the height or the upper half of the canopy. Our aim is to discourage more lower lateral growth, which is the problem. Also the removal of the lowest few tertiary branches above the garden building and over the road.

48 SHOOTERS HILL ROAD, BLACKHEATH, LONDON, SE3 7BG

One large white pine in rear garden - I cannot deem the tree as safe - The tree is out of perpendicular while also being very top heavy, with the lean towards property. The tree is also showing signs of deterioration with broken branches currently caught up the tree, and many previously removed from trunk. These issues are compounded by the fact lower Shooters Hill sits on a bed of London clay. These factors make it not possible for me to deem the tree as safe. I recommend removing the tree and planting something else more suitable.

    FLAT 1, 20 MONTPELIER ROW, LONDON, SE3 0RL

REAR: ONE Robinia (T1)(ht.14m) FELL. Reason: tree has grown too large for its environment, has grown too close to a large brick wall (please see attached photos) and also grown over neighbours garage. Informative A: many thanks for retaining other trees including the nearby mature oak, for urban greening amenity, wildlife habitat and for shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: retaining the Robinia with crown reduction is encouraged rather than felling to retain urban greening and environmental benefits. Informative C: if felled, replacement tree planting is encouraged, species such as field maple, Golden Rain Tree/Pride of India (Koelreuteria paniculata), Katsura (Cercidiphyllum japonicum), Japanese pagoda tree (Styphnolobium japonicum), Kentucky Coffee Tree (Gymnocladus dioica), grey alder, Italian alder, Bee-bee tree (Tetradium daniellii), Judas Tree (Cercis siliquastrum), Magnolia Kobus. Informative D: The Bat Conservation Trust advises checking thoroughly for roosting bats before and during tree works with soft fell process followed to proceed with care and with cut timber left grounded over night to allow any bats to make their way out, tree works ideally during Sept/Oct to avoid maternity and hibernation seasons when bats are most vulnerable to disturbance. Informative E: encourage retaining a high stump and creating habitat log piles with arisings on site for wildlife and biodiversity.
