- Specie of Tree - Goat Willow - Felling of entire tree. We had previously had clip em and fell em out and they advised 2 years ago to remove the tree due to the position of it and its rapid growth. At the time as we had recently moved into the property we decided to prune it instead, but it has proved to be troublesome causing damage to the shed and does grow vigorously every year. - We would look at replanting a smaller tree in the garden to compensate for the loss of this tree, but we wouldnt be able to position it where the existing one is. This is because the Goat Willow is situated between two garden buildings on the boundary of the property. It was never planted but seeded naturally and has been allowed to grow over a number of years.

Initial Proposal: T1. Oak. Formative prune/ reshape crown. Crown suppressed by T2. T2. Oak. Fell. Planted close to property and above large septic tank. The tree will need continual pruning throughout the years and will cause damage to the driveway. Its presence cause light issues for neighbouring properties that are overshadowed by the crown. Its loss would be mitigated by the retention of T1. T3. Oak. Rebalance crown, crown clean. Tidy poor pruning cuts. Updated specification for works following discussion: T1 Oak. Reduce crown by 2 metres to create more compact and manageable shape. T2 Oak. Reduce crown by 3 metres to form a compact shake and give distance to properties. T3 Oak. Rebalance crown over neighbouring property by maximum of 1.5 metres and remove dead wood and tidy poor pruning cuts.

T1 Hornbeam - Fell due to over crowding of trees in that area, previous over pruning with limited space to exist within. T2 Whitebeam - Fell due to being heavily suppressed under a large Oak tree. T3 Conifer type - Fell due to having the potential to be a large tree which is not suited to the available space and the trees position No recommendations to plant replacement trees due to the reason for removal is to reduce the over planting and population of potentially large trees within the garden area.

I would like to do a 30% reduction on what is below the new growth, this will approximately be taking off 4 meters. 5 meters max. I would like to do this to try to increase light into my customers house and garden and also try to make them feel a little less daunting for him as both trees are close to the property.

Cedar Tree (T1) as per TPO 421 / 2017 was severely damaged during storm Ciara on Sunday 9th February 2020, when approximately the top third of the main trunk snapped off and cartwheeled into the grass, ending up with the widest part resting on the boundary wall overhanging next doors garden (17 Champion Hill). The shrub border, with fruit trellis was destroyed, and our custom made wrought iron rose trellis on the wall damaged. The greenhouse required re-glazing, re-guttering and metal roof frame re-aligned. We originally applied for the tree to be removed or pruned in 2017, but this resulted in the TPO being applied. At the time we remained very concerned that it was such a large tree it was no longer compatible with our garden. For example, it casts a huge shadow over the rest of our garden (situated as it is at the south end of the plot), has affected the health of our apple trees and other plants, and would severely damage 15 Champion Hill should it fall in a southeasterly direction. The tree was listed because it was considered to be a feature of the local landscape and a good specimen. Currently it now has a shattered trunk tip with a large branch emerging just below which could be more liable to now drop, and the tree as a whole now looks an odd shape. We submit that it is no longer safe nor healthy, and remains unsuitable for a small residential garden. We do like trees in the garden (for example the custom made rose trellis mentioned earlier was fashioned to accommodate another evergreen tree in the border), and so would like to replace the damaged cedar with a more appropriate deciduous tree, for example a Mulberry or Medlar, at or as near to as possible the removed tree.
