Planning application
HHC/356444/26
Thornham St James C Of E Primary School Castleton Road Royton Oldham OL2 6XT
Proposal
1). Two large trees at the rear of the house on the school grounds shower the house with debris and block all the light outside. The debris blocks drains and gutters requiring frequent clearing, the trees are approx 15m high. 2), The Laurel hedge alongside the east edge of my garden is now over 3.5m high resulting in blockage of light and debris in my garden. 3). The school recently planted (2 years ago) a hedgerow along the school perimeter and this in places is now approaching 3m high in places and needs cutting back. 4). The large ash tree is also a major risk to my house and personnel, it is diseased.

What happens while it is decided
The process from here
This application is with Oldham for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.
The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
