Proposal

Fell Lime tree - I am in the process of purchasing the property. The tree is very close to the front of the house in the front garden area. The roots of the tree are damaging the steps up to the front door and the leaves are making the public pathway slippy and dangerous. In addition, there is potential issues with the roots causing damage to the house itself due to its closeness.

The process from here

This application is with Nottingham for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Fell one Lime tree. The tree is situated in an unsustainable location (approx. 3 meters from the dwelling). It is causing ongoing direct structural damage to the front garden retaining wall and steps. The heavy leaf fall is creating a persistent slip hazard on the public path and primary access route to the home on wet days and in the winter.

There is a group of Sycamores covered in Ivy located next to the property, the Sycamore appear to be self sets which have grown large over time. They are greatly overhanging the property and have a 15degree lean whilst growing from a gradient embankment. I am applying to have them removed as they have the potential to uproot in high wind storms and have the highest chance of it being on top of the property. Also they have shed multiple limbs onto the communal outside seating area of which I've attached a photo from when I went to quote the job.

Works: T1, & T2. Silver birch trees - Prune to achieve 2m clearance from building, lift to 2.5m above ground level. Justification: The birch trees are close to the building, in the past squirrels have used the trees to access the attic and causes damage. Cutting back the trees will prevent this from re-occuring.

We wish to cut down the leylandii on the right hand side of our garden. It blocks the sunlight from the Barberry tree that is also growing in our garden as well as the vegetable patches next to the Leylandii. The house was unoccupied for a number of years before we moved in and has grown large and really blocks light. There is already limited light as the garden is overlooked by a number of trees in the neighboring properties.
