Works: Trees Small domestic

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

1) Tree species: Acer Palmatum (see photographs) 2) Please see supporting plan of garden and photographs. The Acer is marked with a red ?X?. It is the only tree in the plan. 3) From the centre of the tree to the main building the distance is approximately 4.9m. 4) The tree's branches currently hang over the decking area to the front of the plan, the existing planting to the right and left of the plan. The existing planting therefore cannot receive enough light. The branches to the left also now hang over the neighbouring left fence, blocking light to the neighbouring garden. 5) The proposal is to remove/prune the branches to leave a radius of 1.8m of the tree. This is to allow a 3m clearance to the building. Crown lift to 3m. Prune the Crown to the height of the building.

The process from here

This application is with Nottingham for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

London Plane group (semi mature) - Crown reduction 2-3 metres retaining the original shape of the tree. The trees are beginning to outgrow their position as they are planted near a high retaining wall and sit above a garage. This work will allow the trees to be retained and reduce the risk of damage to the retaining wall. Conifer hedge - Reduce by 2 metres. The hedge is growing in-between the london plane trees and is unmanageable to maintain at its current state. The hedge is in danger of posing a significant structural risk to the wall if not reduced.
