Works: Trees

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

Lime (Attached Plan A) We wish to prune this lime tree (see photo - left). Removing large branch to east (overlooking neighbours garden) and prune remaining 5/6 main branches by approximately 3-4 metres because of excessive shading of our garden and solar panels. Sycamore (Attached Plan B) We wish to prune this sycamore tree (see photo right). Reducing both its height and width by 3m because of excessive shading of garden. Remove branches which overhang the road where parked cars, pedestrians and school children pass beneath as shoen in photo B.

There are two large common lime trees just behind the front boundary wall to Villa Road, circled on photograph. They were reduced to previous pollard unions three years ago but are now enormous again and obstructing the pavement and overhead wires. If they get any bigger they will once more impact on other trees in the garden. Pollard on a three-yearly cyclical schedule.

Tree Code: Sgl/106736 Species: Beech (Fagus sylvatica) TPO: TPO269 (T10) Works Sectionally fell and remove the Beech tree to ground level. Remove all timber, branches and arising debris from site. Grind out or otherwise remove the stump where practicable, or leave at ground level as directed by the client. Reason for Works The tree is exhibiting significant structural defects and decay, including: Evidence of substantial basal decay associated with fungal activity (Pholiota spp.). Hollow sounding stem indicating internal decay. Two very large historic tear-out wounds, including one approximately 5 metres above ground level. Major limb loss and loss of large branches. Abnormal buttressing and trunk form. Stem decay below the crown break. These defects indicate a significant decline in structural integrity and an increased risk of partial or whole-tree failure. Summary 1 × Beech (Fagus sylvatica) Sectional dismantling and removal of the entire tree due to advanced structural defects and decay.
