About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T1/T2 Douglas Fir: These trees have previously been lopped at about 8m. The subsequent regrowth has produced a ragged and distorted crown. Both trees are suppressed by the non-lopped trees in the garden of No. 1. These will always be deformed specimens. The preferred option is to fell them and plant replacements in the woodland belt beside Judge's Walk. Failing that a crown reduction from 13m to 9m in height and a reduction from 5m to 3m in radial spread. G3 Silver birch: This group of three young silver birch has also previously been lopped, this time at around 6m. The regrowth has been drawn up to produce very long and slender branches without a discernible leading stem or any natural form. It is proposed to reduce the crown on each tree, singling each tree to a single leading shoot and reducing in height from 12m to 8.5m and reducing radial spread from 4m to 3m. T4 Scots pine: This semi-mature pine has a leaning stem and suppresses a promising young beech tree. It is proposed to remove the pine and encourage the beech to develop fully through formative pruning.
