What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with North Somerset for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About this record

Reading the register

This page mirrors an entry on the statutory planning register that North Somerset is required to keep. The published feed for this record does not state which type of application it is, which is common for older entries and for some council systems; the register entry on the council portal will say, alongside the case officer and any consultation dates.

Every planning application follows the same broad path: submission, validation, publicity, then a decision by officers or committee. Our guide to planning application types explains the common types and what each can approve.

T1 - Beech tree - The tree currently has an acceptable level of risk associated with it as no failure associated characteristics were identified during the assessment. That being said it is recommended that the tree is crown reduced. As the tree has been previously reduced a re- reduction by no more than to the previous pruning points by drop crotch reduction is recommended. This would involve reducing the crown height and spread by 2-3 m by removing branches no larger than 100-120mm diameter to suitably sized growth points. This would help reduce chances of branch failure without causing excessive losses in photosynthetic material. In particular bringing down the ?shoulders? ( just out from centre top of tree) which would reduce lever forces on primary limbs by the greatest amount in this particular instance.
