Proposal
Removal of six Ash trees (Fraxinus excelsior) exhibiting symptoms consistent with Ash Dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus). The trees are showing progressive symptoms associated with Ash Dieback, including crown thinning, upper canopy dieback, dead twigs/branch tips and general decline in vitality throughout the crowns. Ash is widely recognised as becoming increasingly brittle as the disease progresses, with deterioration often accelerating over a relatively short period of time. Although the trees are located within a garden setting and are not considered to present an immediate high-risk target at present, the area beneath and surrounding the trees is regularly used by the family for amenity purposes. Given the progressive nature of the disease, the long-term retention of these trees is considered unsuitable. Removal is therefore proposed as a proactive management approach before further structural decline occurs.
