Planning application

15 CHURCH TERRACE, LONDON, SE13 5BT

Granted Lewisham DC/25/141314 Trees in Conservation Areas

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

REAR (in no.14): ONE Mimosa (T1)(ht.14m) FELL. Reason: pronounced lean now touching boundary wall, could cause wall failure; health and safety. REAR (in churchyard): ONE Maple (T2)(ht.12m) CROWN LIFT by 1m above ground level. LATERAL REDUCTION by 1m from 9m to 8m on compass point south. Reason: to reduce overhanging branches. REAR: ONE Indian Bean (T3)(ht.6.5m) REDUCE HEIGHT by 2m to 4.5m from 6.5m. LATERAL REDUCTION by 0.5 m from 3m on all compass points. Reason: general maintenance. Informative A: Blackheath conservation area has a treed landscape character and the retention of the Catalpha (T3) with crown reduction is greatly appreciated as it is the only tree in the rear garden of no.15. Informative B: the neighbour's Mimosa (T1) can be seen side view from Church Terrace. It's felling will be a loss to rear amenity and alternative mitigation is encouraged such as crown reduction or amending the shape of the wall top next to the tree to accommodate the stem. Prior consent for the felling of Mimosa (T1) is required from the tree owner. Informative C: replacement tree planting is encouraged in both rear gardens, especially as adjacent to St Margaret's Church, to reinforce the treed landscape character, for amenity, wildlife, wellbeing and shade to reduce high temperatures in increasingly hot summers due to climate change. Informative D: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.
